""Monokusatarou"" is one of the most famous pieces of Otogizousi. It is about a success story of a young man named Monokusatarou. From the viewpoint that this story is a comedy, I attempted a historical analysis of Otogizousi. In analysis, I elucidated the relationship between the story and waka, Kyougen. The story is a comedy similar to Kyougen, and it shows the values of the Middle Ages. In the Middle Ages, the emperor had no political power. But he still had cultural prestige. Waka is the symbol of cultural prestige. So, Monokusatarou's success shows the emperor's prestige. This story is written by a writer living in the capital. It laughs at uncultured country people and it emphasizes the power of culture."}, pages = {18--1}, title = {『物くさ太郎』と和歌・狂言}, volume = {18}, year = {2006}, yomi = {サヤ, マキト} }
